Albert worked as an insurance agent in Wath-upon-Dearne. He enlisted in 1915, and served as a private in the Coldstream Guards. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in 1916, and in 1917 was discharged from the Coldstream Guards to take up a temporary commission as a Second Lieutenant. He joined the East Yorkshire regiment, and returned to active service in France. He was reported missing on the 31st March 1918, and with no further information having been received by March 1919, his death was accepted for official purposes as having occurred on or after 31st March 1918. He left effects valued at £264 6s 7d.
